Future Plan


The Ganjam District Orthopaedically Handicapped Welfare Association always tries to fulfill the basic needs of the Persons with Disabilities of Ganjam District in particular and the State of Odisha in general. Every option is open for us for the interest of the Persons with Disabilities.

As the member of the State Coordination Committee for last 12 Years we have brought many burning issues of the PWDs to the notice of the Govt. Many issues discussed there out of which a number of demands were fulfilled and many of them are pending under the Govt. decision.

As the member of LLC (Local Level Committee of National Trust, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India) for last 12 Years we have tried our level best to solve the problems of the MR, CP, Autism and Multiple Disabled Persons in the District Level.

Every year we are organizing press conferences in the District Level and State Level to bring the issues of the PWDs to the notice of the Govt.

We are discussing with the District Administrations of different Districts, Director for Welfare of PWDs, Departmental Secretaries, Chief Secretary, Ministers including the Chief Minister to solve the problems of the PWDs of the State. In this way many of the issues were solved. For rest issues we are organizing Rallies, Dharanas and protests before the District Administrations and before the State Legislative Assembly.

At last we are taking the shelter of law for the fulfillment of the Legal Rights of the PWDs of our State. we are appealing before the State Commissioner and Central Commissioner for Persons with Disability and also filling cases in the State Human Rights Commission, Central Human Rights Commission, State Child Rights Protection Commission and State High Court and Supreme Court of India.

We are committed for the Fundamental and Legal Rights of the PWDs of our State ensured by different laws like “the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act 1995, RCI Act 1982, Mental Health Act 1987, National Trust Act 1999 and UNCRPD 2010. Through our Lobby and Advocacy Programme we will try to fulfill the following issues of the PWDs to make them self reliant so that they can lead normal life with dignity in the so called normal society.
